its friday!!

So, its been awhile since I have posted anything. Been kinda busy and havent had much of a chance to knit or crochet. But this weekend will be peaceful, so maybe I can get something done.

Right this second, I feel like a child on Christmas. I have bought some new yarn and some pattern books....from Walmart....but they finally got some new Bernat bonus books in, and I bought them. The baby stuff is so cute. My ex bought me 3 of the 4 books I got, and made me promise that I would finish the I forgot how many projects I currently am work on before I started anything from the books.

But the kicker was I received my 4 books from Crafters Choice. I love that place. I got a sock book, The Stitch n Bitch Crochet book, a baby knits book and a baby crochet book. I am happy. In all actuallity, I really didnt need to order the books, because I have about 50 books and pamphlets(sp?) sitting in my desk collecting dust. I am just now starting a project out of the one book I got from Crafters Choice, last summer. So yeah, I really dont need anymore books.

I am still working on my campfire sock. I am about to start the toe. If I work on it tonight any, then I might be able to finish it by tomorrow. But I seriously doubt this is gonna happen.

Well, I am off of here for now.

sweater redo

So,yeah, um about that sweater....

Here is a redo on the pattern:

You can use any size needles and any type of yarn to fit the gauge you want. I used size 10 needles and Peaches n Creme cotton yarn.

I cast on 72 inches. If you want you can have a garter st. border. Work as many rows as needed for border. Then begin pattern in stockinette stitch. Work in pattern until desired length, just before armholes.

knit 18 sts. place on st. holder. knit 36 sts across. place remaining 18 sts. on holder.

continue working back in pattern to desired length. bind off.

work front panels to match back. bind off each panel as finished.

work sleeves. i cast on the number of rows on the front and back, give or take a few sts.

work to desired length. bind off.

sew as follows: match the front panels with the back. take and fold the corner of the front panel at the sweater opening.sew from the edge of the folded piece to the edge of the armhole. repeat on the other side. you can either crochet an edging, or pick up sts. to knit a hood.

Then sew the sleeve seams and sew sleeves to armholes.

I was working on it last night I noticed I totally wrote things wrong. So I figured I would rewrite it. If anyone makes it, let me know how it turns out.

sweater

I kinda "designed" my own sweater....I am sure someone, somewhere has done one like this, but until I see one, I am gonna call it my own.

Instead of working the pattern from the Carol Duvall Show, I am doing the following:

Using any type of yarn, and any size needles to maintain the size needed: I used size 10 needles and Peaches n Creme cotton yarn in Sea Mist......

Cast on 72 sts. Work the first few rows, or how ever many you want, for the border in garter st.Then begin stockinette st. or if you want continue in garter st throughout.

Work to desired length before begining armhole. Divide 20 sts. for the front, 32 for the back, and 20 for the front. Place each front on stitch holders. Work back to desired length of armholes. Bind off back. Work front pieces to match length of back. Bind off.

Now for the sleeves I cast on the number of rows in front and back part of the armhole, give or take a few sts. Call me wierd, but it works for me. Work arm pieces to desired length. Bind off.

Sew the tops of the front panels to the top of the back panel. Sew arm pieces together and sew into armholes. If you want, you can pick up and knit along the edge of the neck to make a collar or even attach hood

This isnt anything fancy. And this is the first time I have attempted to do something on my own. So if i mess up, dont criticize me too bad.

thursday

I put a hold on the socks and everything I am making, just to make a sweater for my son. His birthday is next Wednesday, but I am having a party for him Saturday. My ex husband is being a jerk, which isnt anything new, lol. I told him I didnt have the money to get him anything for his birthday,so he told me that he would take me out and get something for him. Then he turns around and asks if the presents he buys are staying with him for his party that he is gonna have for trent at his place. So I said screw it and am making a quick sweater for him. Who needs money when you have yarn and needles?

So I am making this sweater: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_needlework_knitting/article/0,1789,HGTV_3263_3298694,00.html

I modified it a little bit, cause it is gonna be for a one year old, not an infant. So instead of casting on 32, I casted on 72 for the back, and 36 for each front piece, and i am not quite sure how i am gonna do the sleeves yet. I am using peaches n creme cotton yarn in Sea Mist, on size 10 needles. It is turning out nice so far.

Well, back to knitting. I will post a pic of the sweater progress later, after I find the cord, hehe.

sick of being sick

Ugh! I have had this stupid cold for 2 weeks now, and I am so tired of it. I am sitting at my kitchen table with tissues surrounding me, and sneezing like every 3 seconds. I hate it.

It has FINALLY gotten cooler outside. I guess I would be a little happier if it wasnt windy out, cause it is a little too chilly for my liking.

I started making a pair of ankle socks last night, just to find out that yarn I am using is NOT something to use for socks. I got some cheap cotton yarn from walmart. not good at all for socks. so i guess i will use it for a sweater or something.

annoyed

I am not sure who did it....but someone removed a needle partially from my campfire sock i am working on, and now I have to go through and redo it. It had to have been one of my wonderful friends, because my kids didnt get here until today. I am not happy. I just hope I can fix it.

It is finally starting to get sunny out here. It has been raining for the past 2 days. So, while my youngest and my boyfriend take their naps, I sit here at the kitchen table with my haybug. She is coloring, and I am on the laptop looking for patterns for a complete kitchen set to make for my b/f's sister. I want something kinda patriotic, as her fiance is in the military. I cant find a set though. I want a pattern that has: toaster cover, canister covers, dishtowel holders, pot holders, hot pads, etc. The whole set.

Well, I am off for now. I need to continue working on stuff. Happy Sunday:)

I have finished the heel on the campfire sock.......I am working on the foot now. I am a day behind on the sock, and I probably wont finish it until tomorrow or Sunday. So I am multi-tasking, and working on a few projects at the same time, so I can get things done for Christmas.
I still have 6 pairs of socks to make before Christmas, plus I am making a set of apple coasters, a dish soap apron, 1 hoodie with a matching pair of pants, 2 sweaters, 2 scarves, and an outfit. I have my work cut out for me this year. Well, back to working on my sock.

Pictures:

Here is a picture of the Campfire sock I am making for a friend of mine. I am using bernat softee chunky yarn.

Here is a picture of the hoodie I am working on....

I also crochet. Here is a sweater I made a while ago. It was made using Bernat Baby yarn and the roses were made from Red Heart worsted weight yarn.

cant think of a title

I got a little more done on the first sock. I am now at the heel flap. Maybe, just maybe, I will have it done today. I will be able to get batteries for my camera today, so I will post pics!!!

I started a baby hoodie last night. I got the first 6 rows done. The main reason I started it, even though I have a project on the needle, is because my sock pattern is online, and my boyfriend had my computer. I was bored and wanted something to do, so I started it. It will be a cream color, and the yarn I am using is Bernat Soft Boucle. I have only worked with this sort of yarn one other time, and it was to make a pair of mittens. They turned out nice, but they were a pain to make. Hopefully this will be easier.

I have a whole list of things to make before Christmas. Everyone is mostly getting socks. So I am pretty sure I get to hear a bunch of griping and grumbling because I didnt go out and spend a bunch of money to buy something fancy. My family isnt like that, but it seems like my boyfriends is. So I am really looking forward to this Christmas.

Well, I am off here for now. I will post more later.

feeling guilty.........

Ok, so I am feeling a little guilty as I sit here, trying not to pass out from lack of sleep. I am running off of four hours sleep time, which makes for a wonderful day!!!

I am feeling guilty, because last night I get an invitation to join a knit along, which is great. Downfall? Let's see...... In order to get the pattern for the KAL, knitters must make a donation, "in any amount", but the amount cant be any less than 10 bucks. You're thinking, " how is this a downfall?" Downfall # 2...... I'm broke. None, nada, zilch, ZERO!! I have an estimate of 30 cents on my debit card, cause I am not working( though I am working on my STNA, so I can get a job here in the next few weeks).

So I guess the only thing I can think of is removing myself from the knit along. So now I feel guilty because I can't donate towards their cause.

In other news....... I have about 3 to 4 inches left to go before I hit the heel flap. I should have this sock finished by Thursday, I hope. I started it Saturday. But then I have the other sock to make, so I should be finished completely by Sunday or Monday. I cant wait. They are turning out really nice.

templates

Ok. So I am looking around online, and I am trying to find a nice knitting template...that isnt a zip file.Does anyone know where I can find one. I want a knitting one because.... well everyone should know, hehe.

Anyway, I am not even close to having a sock done. I havent had much of a chance to knit, and I cant blame it on my kids, cause they arent here!! I want to post pics, but batteries are still an issue.

I am thinking of things to make the family for christmas.. I hear it now..." You're thinking about christmas, and it is the begining of September!!!!" Yes, I am. Because as big as my family is, it's gonna take awhile to get things done. I know I want to make a certain scarf for a few people, but I cant find it. Some sort of Norwegian(SP) scarf. My dogs ate my pattern. ( sound familiar?) Really, they did.

So I have come to the conclusion that I am gonna buy a muzzle for both, because they love paper, and YARN!!!! Oh, and my needles. The joys of being a dog owner....

Socks

Well,I am back again after a long break of blogging. I lost my other posts, so I had to restart.

I am now starting to get back into knitting full time again. I am currently working on a plain jane pair of socks. You can see a picture and get the pattern free at: http://cidermoon.com/cm0120.html

It is a pdf pattern ( adobe reader) so it is a must to have adobe acrobat reader.

The good thing about this pattern is that is is in various sizes and it isnt specified for a specific gender. It is for both guys and gals. And the best part is that you can make these socks for someone who has really big feet, hehe. My boyfriend does, and I kind of put my foot in my mouth. He asked when I would make him a pair...and I told him that I would when I found a pattern for his big bohemian feet(size 16!!). Not even 5 minutes after saying this.... voila! A pattern. So now he gets a pair.

I also have another sock pattern I have set aside. The pattern comes from Coats and Clark ( Red Heart Pattern). It is worked with Strata Yarn, which works up nice and is evenly set. Here is the link to this pattern: http://www.coatsandclark.com/Crafts/Knitting/Projects/Accessories/LW1533+Knit+Dorm+Socks.htm

I am almost finished with the first sock. I am working on the toe. But I am not really making them for anyone inparticular, so I am in no big hurry to finish. The campfire socks from Cider Moon are for a friend of mine. It seems like a pretty easy pattern. I will post pics of my progress later, once my camera has new batteries.

One last question????

When knitting a pair of socks, how do you keep from creating a "ladder"? Basically where the stitches are separated on the dpn's. Can anyone give me an idea???
